Some people call me an OG of wedding business marketing, but deep down I'm just another person wearing PJ bottoms on Zoom. I swear a lot, I share my struggles, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone else.
Does booking weddings feel harder in 2025 than it used to? You’re not imagining it.
I hear it all the time from wedding pros who are doing everything they’re supposed to be doing, showing up on social media, blogging, and networking but the inquiries just aren’t coming in the way they used to.
The truth is, the wedding market has shifted, and the strategies that worked even a year or two ago might not be cutting it anymore.
In this episode, we’re diving into why booking weddings feels harder right now and what is actually working for vendors who are still getting booked solid.
If you’re feeling discouraged or unsure of how to adjust your marketing to keep up with what couples want in 2025, this episode will give you clarity and direction.

Hey there, my friend, welcome to the podcast. I am your host, Heidi Thompson, and I am all about helping wedding professionals just like you escape this trap of getting price shopped and getting ghosted and finally get the bookings that you want. What I am seeing, especially right now, especially this year, is so many wedding pros are showing up everywhere and doing all of the things and still not getting booked, and I get it. That is so frustrating, especially when you’re working hard and you’re trying to follow all the right steps and it feels like you’re doing everything right but it’s not working. But here’s the truth. But here’s the truth. Being everywhere doesn’t work anymore, at least not on its own.
Your couples are doing more research than ever, taking longer to book and expecting a seamless experience across every single touchpoint, from the first time they come across you on Instagram to that inquiry form on your website. If your marketing is just a collection of somewhat updated listings and random social media posts, it’s not that you’re doing it wrong. It’s that no one gave you a real system to follow. Wrong is that no one gave you a real system to follow. Let’s be real for a second. You do not need another platform to be on, you don’t just need to be more consistent. You can’t see me, but I’m doing air quotes here. You need a plan that works with how clients book their vendors now and helps you stand out before they even inquire, couples want to see that you are credible, relatable and aligned with what they really care about, and if your marketing isn’t helping you, communicate that to them clearly, they’re just moving on because they have a million options. This isn’t about hustling harder. It’s about showing up more strategically. So if you are tired of shouting into the void, here’s where to shift.
Number one I want you to focus on building a brand presence across two to three touch points that reflect how Gen Z actually shops. They’re not just going to your listing on the, not in booking you. They are checking your social, your website. They’re looking for indicators of who you are, what’s important to you. If you’re the right fit in your tone, it needs to be consistent and compelling, no matter where they find you first.
This is even true of referrals, and it’s something I’ve seen come up more and more over the last year. Is people not booking referrals that they’re getting, when previously they booked 100% of their referrals? Well, those people that are getting referred to you. Those couples are going and doing their research and there’s something that’s stopping them. There’s something that’s making them think you’re not the best fit. Making them think you’re not the best fit, which brings me to number two, which is to clarify your messaging and to specify your messaging.
These generic phrases we throw around in the wedding industry, like we love love, or your day, your way, or even terms that have come to mean nothing like luxury and customized and stress-free, they aren’t enough. You need to clearly show and I always say within five seconds or less of someone landing on your website how you’re different, who you’re for, why you are the right choice for that person. Not louder, not cheaper, just clearer and more specific. So who do you want to be the go-to person for? And then you need to speak directly to what they want.
Number three is to simplify your marketing with a system that supports you, one that helps you stay visible and focused and consistent without burning you out, because marketing shouldn’t be a guessing game or a full-time job on top of the one you already have Now. If you’re listening to this and you’re nodding along, this is exactly why I created the Book More Wedding Summit, and I am very excited to announce that registration is officially open, and this year’s event is all about helping you cut through the noise and Lord knows there’s never been more of that than ever to stop guessing and start building a marketing approach that actually books clients.

But here’s the thing you don’t need to throw out every single thing you’ve been doing. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, but you do need to stop doing it alone and without a strategy.
