Hello, my friend. I am your host as always, Heidi Thompson, and I am here to help you build a wedding business that allows you to book more of the clients that you really love working with, as well as have the freedom and flexibility to, you know, have a life outside of your business. And speaking of that, today I want to talk to you about how to stop feeling so busy and overwhelmed.
This is something I hear a lot. This is something I talked about in the last episode, and I know a lot of people were feeling this way. I was surprised to see just how many people, you know, reported feeling either constantly overwhelmed or near constantly overwhelmed. We need to do something about this.
So do you feel like you’re always too busy? Do you feel like you’re always overwhelmed?
Well, if that’s you, I want you to know that this is something I’ve heard from many, many different wedding professionals, all different types of wedding pros from all different places. So if you’re feeling this way, you are definitely not alone.
You’re too busy to market your business.
You’re too busy to plan and be strategic.
You’re too busy to grow your business.
And yeah, if you do run your business the way many wedding pros do, you are too busy and that’s a really big problem because if you’re too busy to market your business, if you’re too busy to get clients, how are you supposed to get clients?
That’s a catch-22 that a lot of wedding pros are finding themselves in. So again, if you’re experiencing this, this is not just you.
Most wedding pros don’t have the time to do the marketing to get the leads that they need to get the bookings that they want. And even if they did, they don’t know what they’re supposed to be doing on a consistent basis.
And a lot of wedding professionals I meet who feel really busy all the time are spending most of their time doing things that, quite frankly, do not move the needle in the business. They don’t actually matter. They don’t make an impact on your goals. And if you are listening and you are thinking, “Heidi, everything that I need to do has to be done,” I have a challenge for you today.
Track it and prove it.
So for the next week, use a tool like Toggl, a spreadsheet, a pen and paper, an app on your phone to track just how much time you’re spending and what you are spending it on. And let me tell you, just like when any of us do this with our money and we look at how much money we’re spending on going out for coffee or going out to eat or on alcohol, all these things that just feel like small things in the moment, they really add up. If you’ve ever done that, this is the exact same thing, but with your time.
You will be shocked at how much time you’re spending on things that do not make an impact on your goals. They do not help you book more weddings. They do not help you serve the Couples that you have and provide an amazing client experience.
What they’re mainly doing is taking up your time. And when members of The Wedding Business Collective do this, when they actually track their time for a week, they find that they are instantly able to free up at least five hours a week on stuff that doesn’t really matter.
Like if they stop doing it, nobody notices. Things move on. We all have things like that in our business.
So if you want to stop feeling so busy and overwhelmed, this is a really simple first step for you.
Just like if you want to stop spending so much money. The first step is to see, okay, where’s your money going? We need to see where your time is going so that we can actually make conscious decisions about that.
But that is just one small step that you can take to reclaim your time. And quite frankly, it’s not enough. I can do better. We can do better.

Yes, a lot of wedding professionals struggle with marketing, but so many more don’t even have the time to struggle with marketing because they’re struggling with time. They’re struggling with feeling overwhelmed and like they’re working, you know, two jobs. They’re working 60-hour weeks and they’re making less than when they worked a 9-5.
They’re having a lower quality of life than when they worked a 9-5. This is not okay with me. I hope this is not okay with you.
