Some people call me an OG of wedding business marketing, but deep down I'm just another person wearing PJ bottoms on Zoom. I swear a lot, I share my struggles, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone else.
I have lots of new things in the works for 2014 for you but I am super excited to introduce to you The Evolve Your Wedding Business Podcast!
Now I know you’ve probably got some questions (like “what the hell is a podcast?”) so I’m going to give you the rundown of common questions people have about podcasts, why I decided to start this podcast and who will be joining me in the first few episodes. If you have any other questions just leave a comment and I’ll be happy to answer them!
The word “podcast” is a mix of “iPod” and “broadcasting” and was coined by Apple years ago. Essentially a podcast is like talk radio in episode format. Episodes come out on a regular basis and you can download them with iTunes or apps for your phone like Stitcher. It’s content on-demand in your ears so you can listen to it when you’re out running, driving or just sitting in front of your computer.
Blog posts are great but I have found that I connect with people a lot better in audio format. I’ve also been told I have a good voice for it, but I don’t hear it. I guess that’s for you to decide! I also wanted to start bringing you other experts in the form of interviews. And the icing on the cake is that you can listen to it anywhere.
A new episode will come out each week and once you subscribe you’ll get the new episodes automatically to iTunes or your chosen pocast app.
My blog posts will now pertain to the podcast episode for that week. You’ll get all sorts of extra information about the guest, the topic and you can listen to the audio right from the blog post if you like!
The list is always growing but in the first few episodes you’ll hear from…
Once the podcast launches in January you’ll be able to find it in the iTunes store and apps that you can get for your phone like Stitcher (my podcast app of choice). Here are 10 top podcast apps for all different types of smartphones & tablets. You’ll also be able to listen to the episodes here in the blog posts that go along with them.
Here are some of my favorite podcasts that I think you’ll enjoy too:
This is a great podcast for photographers as well as other wedding professionals. Andrew Hellmich always gets the best out of his guests and he even interviewed me recently!
This podcast for wedding planners has been going for over 350 episodes. I can highly recommend this podcast to any wedding planner.
The brilliant Michael Stelzner, creator of Social Media Examiner, hosts this podcast and manages to get interviews with the social media elite. This podcast will definitely help you improve your social media marketing.
Amy Porterfield is my go-to girl for all things Facebook marketing and with this podcast she goes into all sorts of other areas of online marketing. If you have ever wanted to use Facebook ads well, Amy has some great information for you.
Okay so this one isn’t business related but we all need to take a breather from work! This podcast teaches me something new and absolutely fascinating every week. It’s produced by the people at How Stuff Works who have lots of other great podcasts you might want to check out. If you really want your mind blown, I suggest checking out their episode on microchimerism (how mothers retain cells from their children for life). It is truly fascinating!
Greetings,
Heidi
