Some people call me an OG of wedding business marketing, but deep down I'm just another person wearing PJ bottoms on Zoom. I swear a lot, I share my struggles, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone else.

The people who you choose to spend time with directly impact your outlook and mindset. Think about it, when you’re around negative people they tend to bring you down, but when you’re around people who love what they do you feel more energised. It is perfectly okay, and actually very important to be selective about who you spend your time around. Recently, I’ve made a conscious effort to find more strong-willed, motivated people who love what they do and distance myself from the complainers who hate their jobs. Today I’ve got some great resources that will help you find like-minded people to spend time with.
Meetup is a great place to find groups in your area. There are meetups for every topic you can imagine and centre around business, hobbies, socialising, activities, sports and common interests.
Facebook groups are often overlooked because some of them are spammy but it’s just a matter of finding the right groups. Some of the best groups that I belong to are outside of the wedding industry and are for entrepreneurs or marketers. If you follow the link above you can search through the groups and you’ll see what groups your Facebook friends have joined.
Eventbrite is a ticketing service for events but they provide a directory of all of the events that are coming up in your area. Many of the events are free so don’t think that just because it is a ticketing service that it will cost you money to attend an event.
Conferences and workshops can be a great place to meet people because they bring like-minded people together. Again, sometimes the best conferences are outside of your industry. One that I have had my eye on is World Domination Summit.
Scott Dinsmore, the creator of Live Your Legend has created this great event guide and is encouraging entrepreneurs to create communities in their local areas.
The Conquer Club™ was created by She Takes on the World Inc. which has been recognized by Forbes as a global leader in women’s entrepreneurship. She Takes on the World was founded by Emmy Award-winning media entrepreneur, Natalie MacNeil. I have partnered with Natalie to start a Conquer Club in London so if you’re a female entrepreneur (sorry men!) and you’d like to come along, just email me!
