Some people call me an OG of wedding business marketing, but deep down I'm just another person wearing PJ bottoms on Zoom. I swear a lot, I share my struggles, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone else.
Everybody loves quizzes and they make for killer email opt in offers. They’re a great way to get those brides and grooms visiting your site onto your email list while segmenting your subscribers so that they get emails tailored to their needs.
I’ve been wanting to create a quiz for awhile because I know it’s a powerful opt in to generate leads but every tool I looked at seemed to be a total pain and require a ton of time to make it work the way I wanted it to. I wanted to make a diagnostic sort of quiz that would lead people to resources that would be the best fit for them based on what was going on in their business and the logic required with some quiz plugins and tools made me put it off.
Then I found a quiz tool called Interact.
Interact caught my eye because they make the whole quiz creation process super simple.
The people behind Interact know that business owners don’t have a ton of time to dedicate to creating a quiz so they have this huge library of quiz templates so you don’t have to sit there, staring at a blinking cursor, wondering what the hell to write and how this is all going to come together.
I knew I was going to love this tool when I realized that I wasn’t going to have to re-invent the wheel 🙂
So you choose a template and get to editing your quiz and you find that everything is laid out in this beautifully simple quiz builder. Click what you want to change and change it. Easy peasy.
This is from a quiz template called “What Type of Bride are You?”.
That part was the logic. Mapping the quiz answers to specific results so that people got the right result for them. I was concerned about this because I wanted to create an accurate diagnostic quiz that told people what to focus on to grow their business based on their current situation. It needed to be right and it needed to be straightforward to set up.
Interact has a few different types of scoring (this, adding up a score by tally, and what I’m going to call the Cosmo quiz style where you get 1 point for A, 2 points for B, etc.) but as you can see, they make it very clear how to connect an answer to a result.
This was a really straightforward process and I knew that I wanted to have the people taking my quiz opt into my email list and then get more resources/advice tailored to them via email so there is a form at the end of the quiz to get more in depth results emailed to you.
I set up 3 different email autoresponders, each tailored specifically to the problems people would face at each of these stages. This way, people get emails that are specifically what they need and I’ve seen that open and click through rates be higher than normal for all 3 of these sequences as a result. Specificity pays off.
Interact provides analytics that show you not just how many people got each result, but what % of people chose any given answer. This one really surprised me and affirmed that it is something that I need to focus on helping wedding professionals with.
Even if people choose not to opt in at the end to get the more detailed results, I can see how they answered the questions. Understanding the problems your ideal clients have is absolutely vital to being able to market to them.
With minimal promotion, 60 people have taken my quiz and opted into my email list and are now getting those tailored emails. Beyond that though, these analytics have been eye-opening. When I created this quiz I thought that more people would fall into group C, and I didn’t expect so many people to fall into group A.
These quiz results will continue to influence the services and resources I create and how I market them.
Another feature of the Interact Quiz Builder is the ability to set up giveaways in the same simple way that you set up quizzes.
If you run giveaways on your blog or website, you can use this platform to embed a clean & attractive signup form in your post and collect sign-ups via an integration with your email service provider.
Quizzes are a fun and effective way to build your email list and I only spent about an hour creating mine (you can take it here!). If you’re thinking about creating a quiz for your business, I highly recommend Interact.
