Some people call me an OG of wedding business marketing, but deep down I'm just another person wearing PJ bottoms on Zoom. I swear a lot, I share my struggles, and I don't pretend to be better than anyone else.
Why is booking more weddings so hard right now?
I hear this question all the time from frustrated wedding professionals. You’re posting on social media, and doing the work, but it still feels like inquiries are trickling in. What gives?
The truth is, social media and SEO aren’t the fastest ways to book weddings when you need results now. There are quicker paths to getting those inquiries rolling in—and it doesn’t involve overhauling your entire marketing strategy.
In this episode, I’m breaking down the fastest ways to book more weddings by focusing on strategies that work today. If you’re ready to stop spinning your wheels and start filling up your calendar with ideal clients, tune in now to learn how!
In this episode, we dive into the fastest ways wedding professionals can book more weddings. Social media and long-term strategies are essential, but when you need results quickly, there are faster, more direct methods.
Most wedding pros decide, “Okay, I’m going to post more on social media,” but the problem is that’s not the fastest path to bookings. Things like social media, blogging, SEO are all wonderful ways to book more weddings, but they aren’t short-term strategies. There are things you can do on social media that are short-term, but simply posting more isn’t one of them.
When you need to book more weddings quickly, you need to focus on your fastest path to bookings. Think of short-term marketing like hunting or fishing for a meal today, versus long-term marketing which is like planting seeds for future growth. Both are important, but when you need bookings fast, the priority should be short-term strategies.
First up, review where your clients come from. You want to do more of what’s working and less of what isn’t. Often, when wedding pros realize they need more inquiries or bookings, they jump to social media because it’s easy and immediate. But for most, social media is not their primary source of bookings.
Ask yourself, where do your clients actually come from? The key is to do more of what works and less of what doesn’t, across the board. Wedding pros often spend too much time on things that aren’t effective. So, where are your clients coming from? How can you do more of that in the short term, not just plant long-term seeds?
Another thing you can do is follow up with dangling leads—people you’ve spoken to, those who have done site visits, or expressed interest in working with you. These people might be 90% of the way to booking you, so following up with them is a much smarter use of your time than posting on social media, where people may be starting from scratch.
Reach out and ask what they’re stuck on or how you can help them move forward. Sometimes a little nudge is all it takes to get them to book. Not sure what to say? My inquiry response email templates will take care of it for you!
Your fastest path to bookings is usually through relationships. Whether they are with vendors, venues, or past clients, you likely already have relationships that can bring you business. For example, reach out to a venue and ask if any of their couples might need your services. Sweeten the pot by offering a bonus or discount because they came from a trusted source.
Not sure how to get more referrals from those relationships? I’ve put together 7 action plans that give you the step-by-step on how to get more referrals easily.
In addition to existing relationships, look at the ones you want to build. Reach out to vendors, photographers, or venues you’ve been wanting to collaborate with. Even if it’s more of a long-term strategy, you never know when a new relationship could lead to immediate bookings.
Direct marketing is another effective strategy. For example, exhibiting at a wedding show gives you direct access to couples who are ready to book. If you have an email list, use it to make offers and drive bookings. However, make sure you have a strategy in place—just showing up isn’t enough. You can use my step-by-step strategy in The Wedding Business Collective.
Make sure your website is fully functional across all devices. Test your inquiry forms to ensure there aren’t any technical issues preventing people from reaching out. Also, improve the copy on your site to make it clear who your services are for in just a few seconds. Even small changes in wording can have a big impact.
In my Stand Out & Get Booked Challenge you’ll learn exactly how to make your website stand out to your ideal client by tweaking 1 simple line on your homepage.
Ask your clients for reviews and use them on your website, social media, and marketing materials. Seeing positive reviews can be the final push someone needs to choose you over another vendor.
While long-term strategies like blogging and SEO are important, they usually don’t generate quick results. Make sure you balance these with short-term strategies that can lead to bookings now.
Lowering your prices is rarely the solution to booking more weddings. Instead, focus on providing value and highlighting what sets you apart from competitors.
Avoid panic-spending on advertising. Only invest in ads if you have a solid strategy in place and are confident it will yield results. Advertising is not a quick fix.
The key to avoiding dry spells is to have a consistent marketing plan that keeps leads coming in. Inside my membership, The Wedding Business Collective, I walk members through creating a detailed marketing plan to attract and book their ideal clients. This ensures that their business grows sustainably, rather than relying on last-minute marketing pushes.
To summarize, focus on doing more of what’s already working, follow up on leads, leverage your relationships, and avoid quick fixes like lowering prices or spending on advertising without a plan. Often, the path to booking more weddings is much shorter than you think!
